That's a wrap!

We started planning Hamfest ‘25 back in September of last year, discussing possibilities for the 100th anniversary celebration.  In March, we knew that our expenses were going to be much higher than anticipated as all costs had increased.   Holding an outdoor event in September is always a ‘rain or shine’ moment.   The forecast looked good enough, but Saturday’s setup looked a little scary as the outdoor spaces filled slowly and the Legacy building was only half filled.  Although our pre-sale numbers were on par with last year, we had a week less to sell tickets.  I guess I was worried for nothing.   Our ticket sales ended up being higher than last year and we made a profit!!  Thank you all for relieving my fears.

My thanks to the crew who helped put this event together, our sponsors, our vendors, prize donors, the Hancock County fair board, The Findlay Trojan High School hockey team, Scout Troop 302, forum presenters, ARRL, and all who attended.  Years of tradition and refinements to our policies have made it easy to run our one-day event.  It doesn’t run itself, but as the years go by, it becomes less challenging to set up.  Next year, there will be some new faces as I step away from ticket sales and the puzzle assembly that is Hamfest tables.  It is my hope that next year’s staff will build upon our traditions and history while introducing innovative ideas to ensure the continued growth of this event.

I look forward to attending as a visitor and reconnecting with old friends.  Maybe even have a table or two.
